Shalisse Lewis Johnstun was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. From an early age she was interested in history. When she was three years old, she didn’t speak to her mother for a week, because she was angry about not being born a “pioneer.” After finishing her undergrad work, she traveled from Omaha to Salt Lake City via wagon trains— just to see what is was like.
Shalisse received a Bachelor of Science in History with a minor in English and secondary education from Southern Utah University and a Master of Arts in Humanities from California State-Dominguez Hills.
She is a collector of stories. In addition, she loves all things historical, her job, gets excited about teaching Shakespeare, is addicted to chocolate, married, has kids, an English mastiff and bulldog, and loves to learn. She strongly believes in and personifies SUU's motto: "Learning Lives Forever"
